After the destruction of the Temple and the suppression of the Bar Kochba revolt and the destruction of the Land of Judah, the Galilee is becoming established as the main Jewish center in the Land of Israel. The rich spiritual work of the Mishnah and Talmudic period is centered in the Galilee. The remains of dozens of Jewish settlements, centered on synagogues unearthed throughout the years of archaeological research, are further evidence of the glory and community power of Galilee Jewry. The Galilee is also the cradle of early Christianity and the place where it began. From the 4th century onwards, at the same time as Christianity became the dominant religion, a battle of consciousness developed over the Galilee and it intensified over the next three centuries. How did the Jewish residents of the Galilee react to the new reality that threatens their spiritual and perhaps even physical existence? In this series, we will deal with encounters and conflicts that took place in the Galilee region, based on a variety of Jewish and Christian sources. The course will be moderated and directed by Dr. Hagai Dvir - Guide, Galilee Researcher, Director of Tourism Product at the Nature and Parks Authority, Research Fellow at the Tel Hai Institute for Religious Studies
